Track of the Coyote
Published in Unknown Binding by Bt Bound (September, 1995)
Author: Todd Wilkinson
Average review score:

Great for research!
I recently did a research paper on coyotes, interested in why they are increasing in the area. I had 18 sources and this book provided the most informative and comprehensive material available; it is also the most current group study available. It provides wonderful insight into the world of the coyote, such as habitat, social hierarchy, breeding, territorial patterns, general behaviors, etc. I fell in love with the coyote after reading it, and was disappointed to hear about the re-introduction of the wolf (predator to coyote) to Yellowstone National Park. The book also contains the most beautiful photographs of coyotes available. Highly recommended!

An outstanding book and very readable
A friend recommended this book to me after I asked him why coyotes are turning up everywhere in the US. Wilkinson gets at the heart of why persecuting coyotes is a bad idea. If you love coyotes, you won't be disappointed.

Track of the Grizzly
Published in Paperback by Random House Trade Paperbacks (September, 1982)
Author: Frank C. Craighead
Average review score:

Track of the Grizzly
A shortened and less scientific version of the Craighead's classic study of the Yellowstone grizzlies. For any one who wants to know more about grizzlies, this book is a must!!!!

The REAL story of Grizzly Bears
A very well written and entertaining book about the Criaghead's multi year study of the Grizzly Bears of the Yellowstone Eco system. The book while written by a Biologist, is very entertaining and an easy (light) read....not a scientific paper.

If you want to understand what Grizzly Bears are REALLY like, and want to understand this interesting animal- this is your book.

It's a great book to read if you visit the Yellowstone area and are somewhat "Bear-a-phobic" as a result of the sensational bear attack books. I was reading this book in Yellowstone this summer when I had my 1st bear incident in the 15 years I have been coming to the park. Armed with good information the "incident" became an interesting encounter with another one of YNP's great animals.

This is a book worth buying and keeping in your library.

Trails & Tales of Yosemite & the Central Sierra
Published in Paperback by Bored Feet Pubns (12 September, 2001)
Author: Sharon Giacomazzi
Average review score:

A Hiker's Hiking Book
I have had the pleasure of walking many of the same trails that Sharon writes about in this book. The maps and directions are most excellent--if a description says 3/10 of a mile, then that's what it is. There is nothing quite so frustrating as having a wonderful day of walking planned only to be thwarted by crappy directions to the trail head. The historical focus is like icing on the cake-each of these walks are very enjoyable by themselves but when you have a greater knowledge of place and time, the whole experience is greatly enhanced.
So, even if you've tried other hiking books and been disappointed, don't pass this one by. There is something for everyone here. Highly Recommended and a great read even if you don't get out much!

Seeing the Sierra's via Foot or Armchair
Sharon has had agoraphobia for 20 or more years, and yet she has conquered her fears by hiking around 10,000 miles on foot with a friend or two intoe for companionship. She has shared her research and emotions along with the visual descriptions of each of these hikes in her first book. It is a book that will inform and delight every reader, even if you never take that first step upon the worn trail.
She includes facinating tidbits that have been well researched, and provides pictures long buried in private and government archives. Sharon has also tried to inform the reader about the ecological issues surrounding the hikers' intrusion into the delicate terrain of the Sierras. Each chapter is complete, and will leave the reader enthralled and excited for the next "trip"--even without leaving the comforts of one's armchair.
Whether one follows the maps on where to begin one's personal experience by hiking the trail or just reading to enjoy the trip vicariously, this book will be a wellcomed addition to everyone's bookcase who is interested in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Bon Voyage!

Knuckle Sandwich
The best book of Asian American poetry to come out
in, well, just about forever. If it works for you,
try some of these other small press giants:
Linh Dinh, Pamela Lu or Paul Chan.

Connoisseur of fine poetry
A wonderful book, I would give it six stars but I can't! I look forward to the next collection of this accomplished young poet.

The Trees of Golden Gate Park and San Francisco
Published in Paperback by Heyday Books (June, 2001)
Authors: Elizabeth McClintock and Richard G., Jr. Turner
Average review score:

The stories of almost two hundred different trees
Trees Of Golden Gate Park And San Francisco is a 'must' bible of detail for any San Francisco resident or enthusiast who wants to know more about the city's urban forest and landscape. Chapters are packed with details ranging from early San Francisco landscape history to the evolution of its parks. The presentation is based on the writings of botanist Elizabeth McClintock, and presents the stories of almost two hundred different trees located in Golden Gate Park. No color photos, but the depth of text and detail doesn't need them; the b/w line drawings are enough.

Makes me happy I live here...
...that there should be people in my community as to write such a book. Starting with the park's planning phases (did you know that Mr. Central Park himself, Frederick Law Olmstead, recommended putting the park along what is now the Van Ness corridor!), the book quickly progresses to encyclopedic coverage of the trees of the park... Sections from this book are destined to become long and enjoyable walks for us in the near future! Unlike many field guides, very fitting for pleasure reading.

The Ultimate iMac Book
Published in Paperback by MacCentral Press (15 April, 1999)
Author: Dan Parks Sydow
Average review score:

Good book, taught me a lot
This is a helpful book. I've got a couple of Mr. Sydow's other books. He's good at clarifying complex topics. Maybe it's because he's a computer programmer, or maybe it's because he's written a few "For Dummies" books (I've got "Mac Programming For Dummies" and "Internet For Macs For Dummies: Quick Reference" by him). In any event, he writes clearly and it's a good book.

Good book, especially if you're pretty new to Mac
I've used Windows a lot, and the Mac only a little (my brother's had a Mac for a long time). I've had an iMac for a few months now, but I didn't feel like I was putting it to its best use. This book helped a lot. It has basic information, such as how to get the most out of the Macintosh operating system and your Web browser. It also covers some things which are aren't in other books I have, like how to connect the iMac to another Mac to have a small home network. I connected my iMac to another Mac and a printer, and it worked. I'd recommend this book to anyone with an iMac.

Vertigo Park/and Other Tall Tales
Published in Paperback by St. Martin's Press (September, 1994)
Author: Mark O'Donnell
Average review score:

O'Donnell is a funny person's funny person.
"The stories 'Marred Bliss' and 'Diary of a Fan' had me laughing so hard I almost choked. Wildly original and so smart. O'Donnell is a funny person's funny person." Sparkle Hayter

First-rate Funny!
A great collection of stories and cartoons from one of our best humorists -- to wit, Mark O'Donnell, the co-adaptor of Moliere's Scapin (currently playing on Broadway). Of particular note are pieces like "The Solar Yearbook," which treats the planets like high-school students, and "Marred Bliss," a very short play with almost-right words. And the novella "Vertigo Park" is not only funny, but also sad and tender. Highly recommende

Volmania
Published in Hardcover by Sports Mania Productions (September, 1998)
Authors: Shannon Parks Williams and Harrison McClary
Average review score:

Vol Fans will love it!
For Vol fans the country over, this will bring a transfusion of their "Orange Blood!" Great for anyone who ever haunted the hallowed field of Neyland Stadium. A must for your Vol friend or family for Christmas.

A "MUST HAVE" if your blood really runs orange!
Brings back some very good (and some bad) memories of "Football Time in Tennessee". A delightful collection of photography and anecdotes that shows the VOL fans "doing their thing".

I was particularly fond of the McElroy "Big Orange" Limo (Johnny grew up in my neighborhood). "Tailgating" at it's finest! He may be the "BIGGEST" Vol Fan.

As also enjoyed the "Vol Navy" photos. Having served as a crew member on one of it's vessels many times was an unforgettable experience that "Volmania" helps you relive in your memories.

You can almost hear the band playing "Rocky Top"!

After looking at someone else's copy, I had to have not one, but three copies. I ordered one for each of my two sons (Vol Alums) and one for my wife and I to enjoy. Three Christmas Gift problems solved! (hope they don't read this until after Christmas)

GO VOLS! Get "VOLMANIA"! You'll be glad you did!

A Vol Fan

Wallace & Gromit in the Wrong Trousers
Published in Paperback by Bantam Doubleday Dell Pub (Juv (November, 1996)
Authors: Graham Marks, Nick Park, and Bob Baker
Average review score:

Awesome.
Wallace and Gromit rock! They are the stars of some of the cleverest animation around. Great story to go with the film.

very humorous and witty
diabolically entertaining and cleverly humorous--this is my favorite "Wallace and Gromit". the penguin adds the much needed tension that seperates the mind set of the crafty dog Gromit from his simpleton owner, Wallace. it is an enjoyable narrative for all ages.

PERFECT
Thank you Tyler! I am a LD Teacher in Indiana, and this book is a great resource for my kids...it's about time someone wrote something POSITIVE!

This book is a must have for anyone who has a child with dyslexia. When I presented this book to my 9 year old, he showed everyone, he took it to school and read it to his class. What a wonderful way to show the world how life is when you are a child with dyslexia. This author is writing a book from 100% experience and it is a must have. Awesome book for anyone. Dyslexia is a gift, and I think that this book shows the wonderful way a person with dyslexia see's the world.
